JESUS WILL GET YOU!
All was quiet inside the room.
He climbed across the window sill.
Then he heard the words that made
His beating heart stand still.
JESUS WILL GET YOU were the words
He heard, not loud but clear.
Yet when he flashed his light around
He saw no one at all to fear.
So into the next room he slowly crept
For on thieving he was bent.
He hoped that this would be the job
From which he could pay his rent.
JESUS WILL GET YOU again he heard
And thought his life was gone by half.
But when he flashed his light around
What he saw made him laugh.
The burglar now had no fear at all
For it was only a parrot on a perch
That had given him such a start
With words that could be heard in church.
So, with a grin he continued to sneak
Across the room, to another door
And when it was opened he did not hear
Jesus will get you! as twice before.
It was a dark and stormy night
When the burglar reached his end.
SIC HIM JESUS! were the words
To the parrot’s snarling friend.
