Let me tell you about Charlotte,
A woman I've never met.
She lives somewhere in Holland
And we visit on the net.
Charlotte tells me of her life,
In years she's not yet thirty.
Here's a picture of her dancing.
I think she's very pretty.
She tells me how hard she trains
To keep her dancing skills
But she also has a job
That her daytime hours fills.
A secretary is what she is
On each working day.
Then volunteering at a home
Leaves little time for play.
She says she has three old men
Who she goes to see.
And buys flowers for the graves
Of the wives who used to be.
On some days when she is free
Of work and other things to do
To the sea shore she goes
To sit and dream and see the view.
She told me if I wanted to know her
There is music I should try.
Quiet Revolution by Chris de Burgh.
Is an album that makes her cry.
Now I've told you about Charlotte.
My Dutch friend from the net.
We don't talk so very often.
But I'm so very glad we met.
