A THANKSGIVING MEAL


We were dressed in our very best
When greeted by our host
And handed a glass of wine
With which to make a toast.

The food was all laid out for us
On tables nice and neat.
To view the many dishes there
Was itself quite a treat.

Salads?  Help yourself to all of them.
And when you are done with these
Come back and fill your plate
With meat, potatoes and more cheese.

Turkey and dressing of course you'll want
And maybe ham and roast as well.
Then when you have eaten your fill
You'll find the desserts are just swell.

Well, everything was as they said
And we just ate and ate.
But finally we had to stop
For it was growing late.

To our host we said Goodbye
The food was just great.
But before leaving I have to ask
How can you do it for eleven ninety-eight?
