PARTY DAY!

Hooray! Today is the day
SWL retirees have waited for.
December 13, 2000
Our Christmas party once more!

I’m up at 5 ,
And rarin to go.
But wait! Look out the door
At the ice and snow!

One hundred fifty people
Have signed up to come
But it will be lucky
If there are even some.

It’s hard to tell at this time
Just what the day will hold.
But it already looks as if
Nobody will be out but the bold.

Oh, darn and double darn.
It shouldn’t be this way.
Why couldn’t the weather man
Forecast ice another day!

I’m waiting for Marcy to call
With her decision what to do.
She is the driver of the car
And will be taking me & Gayle too.

(Time passes)

Marcy called to say ‘No, not today’
So on the bus I had to go.
It was like my working days,
Waiting in cold and snow.

Well, I got there in plenty of time
As did another seventy-five.
We laughed and joked and ate
And were glad to be still alive.

A good time was had by all
And I’m glad I was able to go.
It’s too bad the weather was bad
With ice instead of snow.
