I didn’t really mean to do it
But I’m not at all ashamed.
It’s really not so very bad
As other folks have claimed.

It just sort of happened;
I didn’t mean to do it.
Now people shake their heads
And say ‘that day, you’ll rue it’.

I had never done this before
And I know I won’t again.
But say what you want to say
I don’t believe it was a sin.

I’d thought about it often,
Wondering how it would feel.
But when it actually happened
Somehow it wasn’t real.

I hoped to have the thrill
Of doing something exciting,
But it was really sort of boring
And I can put that in writing.

It didn’t take very long
For the deed to be done.
Oh, it was something different,
But, really, not that much fun.

I don’t regret what happened
On that fateful day.
But I’m glad I’ll not have
Another 70Th BIRTHDAY!
