More Pills

I guess it was about 1983
When I started taking pills
It all started when I went to the clinic
Complaining about pains and chills.

“Young man”, I was told
For I was much younger then.
“I don’t know about the pains and chills,
But your blood pressure is around 210.”

So, thus it started with
Pills for hypertension and cholesterol
Followed by many others
All with strange names like metoprolol.

Asprin I take for my heart,
That’s the cheapest of them all.
Fexofenadine is to stop my sneezing
When I get hay fever in the fall.

Terazosin and Omeprazole
Are two that are difficult to say.
One is for benign prostatic hyperplasia
Acid reflux the other keeps away.

Caduet I take twice a day
To keep that high bp down.
Then Plavix is in the mix
For my circulation makes me frown.

Niaspan is another I take
And it is a real bitch.
I must take an aspirin 1 hour before
Or I wake up with a terrible itch.

Ten pills in all I take each day.
And they certainly don’t come free.
I don’t know how I could do it
