MY NEW COMPUTER

I have a new computer!
You ought to see it run!
It’s state of the art today,
Tomorrow it will not be one.

My other one was okay, I guess
It did the jobs I needed.
But there were times when
“Hurry up and load” I pleaded.

And then my friend told me about
This fantastic deal he found.
A super machine he said it was
And probably the best around.

But, he said, we’ll have to build it
And you’ll need a few extra parts
That are in your current machine.
To move them you have the smarts.

So, that’s what we did
On one Saturday.
About 11 we started;
By five we said “hooray”.

Well, it was up and running,
But not quite right.
For two days, and more
Missing sound I had to fight.

But now I have a new computer
And you ought to hear it play.
I don’t know how I fixed it,
But often that is the way.

My old computer is still in service
With parts from one older still.
Two computers I need to have
Although some think it overkill.

But just think if one quit running
As I was writing you a poem.
It would be tough for you to wait
Until it was fixed and back at home.
