RUN IN CIRCLES
“When in darkness
Or in doubt
Run in circles,
Scream and shout.”
I found these words somewhere
And thought to write them down.
Now I often think of them
When I have cause to frown.
I knew a man some years ago
Who followed this advice.
When things didn’t go quite right
He would scream not once but twice.
And then he would settle down
To the work at hand.
The results he would accomplish,
Well, they were something grand.
Some people I’m sure would say
To run in circles is a waste.
But it may be the thing to do
When with fear one’s chased.
A dog, I guess you know,
Before he goes to sleep
Always turns a time or two
To be sure his tail he’ll keep.
I suppose it is really better
To keep calm and quiet
When fearsome things occur
Such as flood or maybe riot.
But on those days
When annoyances come about
Maybe it is better to
Run in circles, Scream and shout
