HERE'S A RITIN FRUM

.

For DECEMBER 2002

Hi, everybudy!

This is Old Bear ritin 2 u agin and this tyme I'n goin 2 tell U abowt our krews that we tuk in Novembur and show U sum pitchers my man tuk on his ditchital kamra.

We rode on a bus frum Dallas to Galveston where the big boat we were goin to ride on was parked. We had 2 B in Galveston purty early sew had 2 leave in the darktime. Here's a pitcher of sum of the sleepy peoples that were on the bus.

Here's a couple pictures of the ship that was called Rhapsody of the Seas.

It looks like a little boat in these pitchers but it wus the biggest boat I wus ever on. I bet it wus as big as the Palmer House Hotel in Chicago and it wus jist as purty.

Jist abowt 2500 peoples could ride on this boat at the same time and I think they were all trying to get inside at the same time. Course my man had to show the peoples his passport and sum other stuff before we could get our Sea-pass and get on board. The Sea-pass wus jist lyke a credit card but it also wus the key to our cabin and said wear we would be sitting at dinner time. We were in cabin 3800 and were eating at table 72 with some more people who went with us. It wus an important card and my man wus kareful not to loose it. Here's wat the Sea-pass looked like.

After we got all that taken care of we could get on the boat but a pitcher taker man tuk our pitcher first. That's the pitcher at the top of the page. My man thot it wus a purty gud one of us sew used his Sea-pass card to buy it for $9.95.

Well, the first thing we did wus go to The Windjammer to eat lunch cus we didn't stop for any cumin frum Dallas. The Windjammer wus sort of a cafeteria on Deck 9 and we could eat all we wanted without payin no money. I forget wat we ate had but it wus a hole lot , and real gud, too. We didn't do much the rest of the day cept luk around the ship and figger out how 2 get places. I think there wus 8 elevators and stairs if you wanted to walk. And jist so peoples wuldn't forget wat day it wus they showed U on the carpet in the elevators wat day it wus.

At dinner time we went to Table 72 in the Edelweiss restaurant . It sure wus big. I didn't count how many tables were in it but I saw table 140 and there were lots more.

Here's a pitcher of Miss Elizabeth and my man sittin at table 72.

Mr. Sanchos wus the man who tuk care of us every dinner time and he sure wus nice. Matter of fact everbody who wurked on this big ship wus real nice. If I member korrctly about 150 peoples worked in the dining room and they came from over 50 countries. Mr. Sanchos wus frum India.

This is a pitcher of wat wus kalled "open seating".

On Monday two xcitin things happened. The first xciting thing wus a lifeboat drill. When the alarm sounded to tell us we were pretend sinkin everybudy had to put on their life jacket and go to Deck 5 to wat wus kalled A Mustard Station. We were to go to Mustard Station 12. Then, if the boat had really been sinkin we and about 150 others wuld have been put in a great big lifeboat. Everybudy luked funny in their life jackets. Here is my man in his and Miss Elizabeth and Miss Evelyn.

There wus a Mustard Station close to each lifeboat sew if the boat had hit an iceberg or sumpin it wuldn't have taken 2 long 2 get in the life boat.

The 2nd xcitin thing that happened on Monday wus The Captain's Party. This wus a speshul evening wen everybudy wus supposed to dress real nice and we got to meet Captain Charles and there wus music and dancin and a speshul menu in the Edelweiss dining room. My man put on his best suit and I put on my tuxedo so we would look good for wen we met Captain Charles. But before I met the Captain I saw Diana who I had met wen we got on the boat and she wus glad to see me agin.

After my man tuk this a pitcher of me and Diana we got in wat is kalled the receiving line wear we wuld be introduced to Captain Charles. Miss Elizabeth was with me and my man and here's a pitcher of us that the ship's pitcher taker tuk of us with Captain Charles.

After the pitcher taker tuk his pitcher my man asked Captain Charles if he wuld hold me wile he tuk a pitcher. Captain Charles said okay and my man tuk this pitcher.. Lots of people laffed to C the Captain of a big boat holding a teddy bear but Captain Charles said "send me a copy" so we did.

Every day we got a skedule sayin wat wus goin 2 be happening that day. My man got up real early most mornings so he could go up to Deck 10 and use the treadmill. I went wit him one morning but it wusn't much fun lukin out the windows at all the water and watchin the other early-rising peoples walk outside in the wind.

There wus a reel nyce theater on Deck 5, just the other side of the Casino, and we went there every night to see a show. Mostly it wus singin and dancin shows but one night they had 2 magic people and they were reel gud 2.

Every night wen we woud go back to our room there would be sum sort of surprise 4 us. Peter, who tuk care of us, liked to make things from towels. Here is a bunny rabbit and a monkey he made 4 us. All the cabin attendunts new how to make towel animals and one day they give a class on duin this in the Shall We Dance Lounge on Deck 6. We lerned how to make an elefunt and the monkey like is in the pitcher.

It wus on Saturday at 4pn my man and me and sum other peoples were told to go to the Edelweiss dining room and meet by the piano. There were about 30 of us who had been invited to to take a tour of one of the kitchens. If I member right there were 5 kitchens and about 50 chef's and cooks and they prepared about 50,000 meals every week. We split up into 2 grups and one chef tuk sum of us to one part of one of the kitchens and the Executive Chef tuk the rest of us to another part . We went with him and had to walk reel careful cus they had been cleaning the kitchen and the floor wus still wet.

It shure wus a big kitchen and they had lots and lots of pots and pans and dishes. Here are a few pitchers that my man tuk.

Here is the Executive Chef who tuk us on the tour of the kitchen and we saw all this fresh baked bread

These peoples were making salads and you kan see how big the kitchen is.

The cooks made purty things for the tables. Here is a birdcage made frum watermelon. And flowers made frum turnips.

We made 3 port calls. The first one wus in Key West, Florida and we tuk a tour riding on sum wagon things pulled by a pretend train. Next we stopped in Belize City, Belize but just got off the boat and luked around. There wus nuthing much to see.

We got off the boat in Cozumel, Mexico but didn't see much except shops there.

The funnest part of this crews wus the people I met. My man sed that wen he went sumwear without me peoples would stop him to ask wear I wus or wat I wus duing and a whole lot of purty ladies wanted to hold me. Of course I didn't like that .. much. 'that .. Much.

Here's sum of the peoples who lyked me purty gud.

Peoples I met in Belize and Cozumel.

Sum of the passenjers

Sum of the crew.

This is Miss Diana again. She shure wus busy cus she wus the first one I met on the ship and then she wus hostess for the Captains party and this wus taken wen she wus teachin us how to dance. Sumbudy told me that she danced in one of the shows, too.

Here's the peoples frum Dallas I went on the crews with wen we were eatin at the Captain's Dinner night

It sure wus a good crews and my man sez we might go on another one sum day cus it wus sew much fun. It only rained on us one day and that wus wen we wus in Belize City and nobody we knew got sick except Mr. Mack who wus our roommate hadn't been home hardly anytime before he had to get sumpn kalled a pacemaker stuck inside of him.

My man sed that he sure wus lucky cus if we had gone on this crews earlier, before he had his heart surjury he would have had a hard time cus there wus a lot of walkin even if there were elevators and he culdn't have dun it. Now he wus able to do every thing that he wanted to do. Like walk every morning on the treadmill and did sum dancin with Miss Elizabeth and walked up and down the stairs sumtymes instead of ridin the elevator. And his legs didn't hurt and his arm didn't hurt and he could breathe purty gud and he felt reel gud purty much all over.

I liked the crews mostly cus I didn't have 2 du anything and wen I wanted 2 du sumthing there wus always a purty girl sumwear close who lyked me purty gud.

You have a real gud Christms tyme.
