Hi, Evrybudy!
This is Old Bear ritin 2 U agin and I got to go on a trip with my man yesterday. It wus
a mystry trip so nobody cept Mr. Billy, the coach driver, knew wear we were goin but peoples
tried to guess wear it wus and wat the big surpryze we were goin to have wuld be. There wus me
and 43 other passengers on this big coach that Mr. Billy sed 57 peoples culd ryde in.
It shure wus a nyce coach with reel big windows and good cool air cus it was reel hot outside
and evrybudy wus enjoying it and wondering wear we where goin.
We headed sort of south and I thought maybe we were goin 2 the zoo especially when Mr.
Billy pulled off the big road to one that wus rite by the zoo. But then he stopped at a gas
station and another passenjer got on. Everybudy clapped and laffed and u culd here people
saying "Oh, it's Rosemary!" Miss Rosemary wus the big surprise.
Most everybudy knows Miss Rosemary and likes her reel gud. She goes a hole lot of
places to give talks cus she knows a hole lot about hysterical things and rites books and
stuff lyke that. Me and my man no Miss Rosemary purty gud and she gets my ritin every tyme.
Here is a pitcher of us at a playce we stopped later on in the trip. Miss Elizabeth tuk the pitcher.
She's gettin 2B a purty gud pitcher taker.
Well, wear we were goin was Waxahachie jist maybe 50 miles or so south of Dallas.
Miss Rosemary kept us laffin with hysterical stories all the way there and then told some more
all the way back home later on.
Waxahachie is an indian wurd that means cow (or buffalo) creek. Waxahachie is also
called The Gingerbread City cus there are a hole lot of old timy reel fancy houses that have
lots of "gingerbread" decorations on them. We were goin 2 go C one after everybudy ate lunch.
But before we went to downtown Waxahachie to eat we drove by to look at the Chautauqua
Auditorium. This is a real old building that has 8 sides on it and is where in the olden days,
B4 television, they had preachin and plays and singers and all kinds of programs. Miss
Rosemary told us that this wus the only Chautauqua temple in existence which wus wat made it
wurth seeing.
My man tuk these pitchers that aren't very gud cuz Mr. Billy didn't stop but jist drove slow
by where the Chataugua Temple was.
Waxahachie has a real purty red courthouse that you kan see frum a purty long way off.
We drove around it 2 times while Miss Rosemary told a story about the carved faces that were
on it. Then it wus tyme to go eat.
Here is where we went for lunch.
It wus a reel nyce eatin playce. There was a gift store in front of the eatin part and there
wus sum reel old furniture in the restaurant part. Here's Miss Rosemary examining sum of the furniture;
Evrybudy got the same thing to eat; a reel gud salad plate and a big choklate brownie or some sort of lemon bar thng that wus reel
gud. My man ate half of both kinds. Here's sum of the peoples eatin their good meal.
After we had
our lunch we went to see one of those old timey gingerbread houses. My man didn't take no
pitchers of the inside of the house but we got put in 2 groups of 20 and then we were taken
through the hole house and told wat all they had to du to restore it back to its old time
look. I told U a story; my man did take two pitchers in the house of Miss Marion, the owners
wife, holdin me.
Miss Marion led one group, the man who owned the house took the other one. Evrybudy
sed that it shure wus a nyce house but they wuldn't want 2 live there. Here's one of the old timy
bedrooms:
After we did the walkin and lookin in the old time house we went back to downtown
Waxahachie so those eho wanted to could go shoppin in some of the antique stores near where
we had been eatin. Here is Miss Elizabeth thinkin about buying sum new clothes. She didn't
buy nuthin but shure did think abowt it.
Not very many peoples went shopping cus it wus too hot to walk very far. Most of the
peoples stayed inside a store that wus cool until Mr. Billy came back with the coach.
Miss Rosemary kept us laffin all the way back to Dallas but I think most everyone wus
glad wen we culd see downtwn Dallas agin cus we knew we were almost home. It wus a fun trip
and I'm shure glad I got 2 go.
