HERE'S A RITIN FRUM

For JUNE 2003

Hi, evrybudy! This is Old Bear ritin 2 U agin and we shure did have a gud time goin 2 East Texus 2 ryde the old tymey train. The pitcher at the top is a pitcher of me jist b4 I did wat is kalled ‘boadin the trayne'. The lady who is holdng me wasn’t the trayne driver; she jist helped peoples get on and off the trayne.

We started our trip by riding in a nyce bus frum Dallas to Palestine (say PalesTEEN), Texus. It wus maybe a 2 hour trip but I got 2 seats by myself sew I culd sleep or luk out the window or do most any thing. Mr. Bryon wus who had planned the trip and he had brought sody pop 4 us to drink and chips and cookies 4 us to eat and told hysterical stuff about Texus all the way there. Like he told us that Texus wus the only state where the citizens voted whether or not to go to war against the Yankee peoples.

We stopped on the way to Palestine at a McDonalds sew peoples culd get a cup of coffee and go to the bathroom. My man sez doin rest stops is maybe the best part of takin a trip. But U kan C frum this pitcher that he isn’t the only one who enjoys stoppin 4 a few minutes.

When we got to Palestine a guide man got on our bus and tuk us on a driving tour of Palestine and showed us the old hysterical buildings and told us about the famous men hat had cum frum Palestine and fought indians and did other famus stuff.

After we did the sight-seeing it wus tyme to go eat lunch and here is where evrybudy ate, except me cus I don’t eat sew I stayed in the bus but my man told me all about it. He sed that everybudy got green beans, a baked potato and a salad but then had a choice of grilled chiken or Chicken fried steak. My man orders the chicken fried steak and he sed it wus purty gud but a little too big. But later Mr. Bryon sed that the Ranch House’s regular Chicken Fried Steak wus probably 2 times as big as wat my man and the others got. Here’s sum of the peoples eatin their lunch at a big long table.

After everybudy got through eatin they got back on the bus and we went to the train station to get on the old timey train to go to Rusk. That is the other end of the Texus State Railroad. Our trayne wus pulled by engine #300 that wus made by the Baldiwn Company in 1917. #300 weighs 83 tons and is wut is kalled a 2-8-0 engine. That means it has 2 wheels in front and 8 in the middle and none in bak. Here'a a cuple of pitchers of engine #300.

Wile we were waitin 4 the train to leave we had sum tyme to luk at some old timey stores that were by the train station.

It wus a real nice day sew there were a hole lot of peoples riding on the train. Here’s sum of them sittin in the old timey trayne car me and my man were in.

There were a hole lot of little childrun ridin with their mommas and daddies and one little girl wanted 2 get her pitcher taken with me. So her momma borrowed my mans ditchital kamra and tuk this pitcher of her and me and Miss Elizabeth and my man.

My man got the momma’s e-mail address and sent her the pitcher later on. This little girl had been on a birthday trip but I don’ t know if it wus her birthday or not. But all the little childrun were havin a gud tyme.

It wus an hour and a half to ryde on the trayn from Palestine to Rusk. Some peoples go both ways but we didn’t have 2 cus the bus driver drove to meet us when the trayn cum in. My man bought me a real nyce trayne pin that was my souveneer of this trip. I’ve got pins frum most everywhere I’ve been.

We drove from Rusk to Athens, Texus and visited a place called the New York, Texus, Cheese Cake Factory and ate sum free samples my man sed were real gud. After stoppin there we cum right back to Dallus and we were back in our house about 7 o’clock. It wus a real gud trip.

Our next trip will be in August when we go to Eureka Springs, Arkansas. The only place I’ve ever been in Arkansas is the airport in Little Rock and that isn’t very much fun. Course we go through Arkansas every time we go to Chicago, and it is real purty. I shure am lucky to get to go on so many trips.
