I bet U kant guess wear I am. I am out at sumplayce kalled THE CREATIVE ARTS DEPARTMENT that is a big building in a playce kalled FAIR PARK. Now I will tell U all abowt how kum this is wear I am rite now wile my man is duin this typin 4 me.
Not very many days ago my man wus lukin thru a buk that wus called a PREMIUM BOOK for THE STATE FAIR OF TEXAS and he sed 2 me "Guess wat, Old Bear. There is a kontest at the Fair for teddy bears and there is a special one 4 bears who r old lyke u. How wuld u lyke 2 B in the kontest?
And I sed to my man sumpn lyke "what's a kontest" and he sed that it wus wear lots of the same sort of thing lyke bears or jars of jelly get put together and then sum peple kalled judges who know a lot abowt the bears or jars of jelly think reel hard abowt what is the best and then they say which is best and give whatever is best a prize. He sed he used 2 help du sumpn kalled the scale model kontest a purtylong tyme ago sew he knows a hole lot about it. Well, I sed "what du I have 2 du in this Kontest?' and my man sed mostly all U have 2 du is sit on a shelf and luk reel importunt and u kan du that ez. Sew I sed shure, I kan du that.
Well, my man didn't tell me wat is kalled the hole story. Wat he didn't tell me is I got 2 sit here on this shelf 4 a long tyme. I fownd out that if I don't win a prize 4 beein the gudest old bear I have 2 sit here until September 15 wen my man kan kum get me. But if i DU win a prize then I will get put in sumpn kalled a show case and will have 2 stay there 4 purty near a month more sew all the peple who kum 2 the Fair kan luk at me. My man sez there may be a zillion peple frum all over the wurld get 2 C me. I guess that is okay cus I am wearin my gud new vest and my new beads that Miss Laureen in New Mexico sold me.
Now I wiil tell u abowt goin 2 Fair Park. We had 2 go on wat is kalled a city bus kus my man don't no how 2 dryve a kar. And we had 2 take 2 buses and it wus sort of fun cus I had never been on a city bus B4. Wen we got 2 Fair Park we had 2 walk a purty long way frum the gate wear we went in 2 the playce kalledc the Creative Arts building. Wen we went in there were pretty many people duing riting things at tabls and my man sed we got 2 find the table that sez DOLLS on it and I sed why du we hae 2 du that? I am no doll.
My man sed I know that but the peple out here think teddy bears r sort of lyke dolls and that is wat the kontest is kalled and I sed if I had nown that I probly wuldn't have cum cus I don't want peple 2 think I am a doll. But I felt better when my man told me abowt how I wuld be in a special kiass that wus jist 4 bears who were borned sumtyme between 1903 and 1939. We think I wus borned in 1929 in Camelzoo, Michygan.
So we went 2 the table that had the big Sign sayin DOLLS on it and there were 2 reel nyce ladies there and one of the ladies sad kan I du sumpn 4 U and my man sed yes Old Bear wants 2 b in the Kontest and the lady sed Okay and rote down on a peace of paper all abowt me.
It wusn't skary at all 2 enter the kontest cus the other lady named Miss Marilyn lyked me reel well and picked me up and hugged me and my man tuk sum pitchers of me sittin on the table and he showed the nyce ladies one of his magazines and how I did ritin 4 it and a lady named Miss Barbara who runs all the kontests who my man new kame 2 C us and everybudy wus reel frendly and another nyce lady put me on a shelf wear there wus 1 or 2 more bears.
Purty soon my man sed he had 2 go home and cum 2 the shelf wear I wus 2 say gudbye and 2 take my pitcher agin. Then he left me by myself.
Cept sumpn reel nyce happened not vry long after my man went home. Du u member seeing a* pitcher of Mr. Chuck and Miss Terry in the Startext newspaper kalled INK last time?
Well, guess wat. Mr. Chuck and Miss Terry kum wear I wus 2 put another bear kalled Graduate Bear in the kontest. Mr. Chuck new who I wus kus he rites 2 me a hole lot and he saw me on the shelf and he hollered Out reel loud OLD BEAR and thelady named Miss Marilyn who knows Mr.Chuck sed du u no Old- Bear and Mr. Chuck sed I shure du and he got to pick me up and we visited a purty long wile. That shure wus nyce.
Miss Terry talked 2 me 2 and she sed "OldBear, my Graduate Bear has never been away frum home before and is reel skared cus he don't no wat is goin 2 happen sew will U take kare of him and see if U kan get him unskared."I sed shure” and that's wat I did after Mr. Chuck and Miss Terry sed gudbye 2 him and left. I told Graduate Bear all abowt how I go playces on the trayne and airplaynes and city buses and how peple r reel nyce and not 2 be skaied at all and purty soon he wusn't. I bet Graduate Bear is goin 2 B a nu gud frend of mine and I shure hope he wins a pryze. He is in a diffurnt klass sew maybe we will both win a pryze and can sit 2Gether in a showkase during the Fair That wuld be fun.
