Hi, everybudy! This is Old Bear ritin 2 U agin. I ain't been doin much of anything fun
since I rote to you back in February. My man is still havin problems with his kompewter and
we had a big ice storm that made everything look wite and it wus reel slippery and big trucks
tipped over and there wus sumpn kalled traffic jams just abowt everywear and sum peples had
2 stay in their car all nite cus it culdn't go no wear. But little kids had fun cus they didn't
have 2 go 2 skool for 2 days sew they got outside and played. There were 5 boys and girls
playin in our driveway, using a big piece of plastic for slidin down the ice.
I guess the bestust thing I did was get to see Miss Colleen again. That`s a pitcher of
her holdin me. And I'm wearing my red bow tie and my tuxedo suit cus it wus at a party. Wat
it wus that me and my man went 2 wus a program that The Children Of The American Resolution,
David Pendleton Society put on. They do this every year and this wus the 3rd time me and my
man have been invited to go. It's a reel gud program that tells about Texus History and has
singin and dancin in it 2 and then "party tyme" with lots of gud things to eat. This year
this program wus kalled George Washington Tea and, like they do every year, wus held at the
JANE DOUGLAS CHAPTER, D.A.R. chapter house. A chapter house is sort of a club house and a
museum out where they hold the STATE FAIR OF TEXUS every year and me and my man wurk for them
sum tymes sew that is Y we get invited.
Miss Dorothy wus the head lady - called a regent - 4 quite a wile but she lost her
regent job sew now Jimmie Arney is the head regent lady. She's real nyce, to.
My man didn't get any gud pictures of the childrun giving the program but he brought
back a menu that sez who wus doing wat so I wuldn't forget. Katie give sumpn called an
invocation and then Rachel presented the flag. Michael led us all in sayin the Pledge of
Allegiance and Ben give the Salute to the Texus Flag. Then Diana read the CAR Creed. Katie
Williams, the Society president welcomed all of us to their program and then Colleen give the
part I liked best. She told how us Teddy Bears were invented and how we were named after
Mr . Teddy Roosevelt who wus a famus president of the Unity States
.
Karl wus next and he told us why it wus he had joined the Marines. Then Catherine, all
dressed up like Mr. Ben Franklin, told us some of Mr. Franklin's Wisdom.
Andrew and Colleen had a Do You Know game where they asked history or geography
questions and the ones who answered them got a piece of candy.
All the CAR members joined in teling us about the Texus Flag and then Eddie told us
about the American Indians. Katie, the President, told us sum things that were going on in the
Texas State CAR and then Claire, Colleen and Katie did a dance thing called Trooper's Battle
Him.
Diana talked about the State Conference and then everyone sung The Yellow Rose of Texus.
Then we got to drink red punch stuff and eat sandwiches and things.
It sure wus a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon and it wus nyce to see Colleen again,
and sum of the other ladies I know frum wen we wurk out there.
Me and my man sure enuf R goin 2 NYC in December and r goin 2 go to 3 shows and then
the Christmas show at Radio City. Member wen we were there last year I had to ryde through
the x-ray machine cus the guard peoples thought I had something bad inside of me. My man had
a hard time in NYC last year cus he had a lot of hurtin goin on. He sez now he feels real gud
and kan walk all over NYC without stoppin cept 4 red lights .
