HERE'S A RITIN FRUM

For MARCH, 2005

Hi, Evrybudy!

This is Old Bear ritin 2 U agin frum Dallas in Texus and we shue have been havin sum purty days this winter. My man has even gone places without wearin his ovrcoat and he almost never does that in the winter tyme.

I haven't been duin a hole lot xcitin but me and my man went with Miss Elizabeth to the DAR House on the Sunday before Valentine's day to a George Washington Tea. This maybe wus the 3rd or 4th time we went to this tea. Wat it is is a program put on each year by The Children of the American Resolution and it is sponsored by the Jane Douglas Chapter, DAR. That's where me and my man go each year to help out durin the fair. It is called a tea but they don't have no tea at all. But they always have some little sandwches and cookies and candies and cheeses and good punch after the Childrun do the program.

Cept sum of the Children are getting almost 2 old to be kalled childrun any more. Wen me and my man started goin to the DAR teas they ere all young boys and girls. Now sum of them are getting ready to leave skool and do other things.

Here is Miss Colleen telling about National & State projects that the CAR did this year.

She is 18 years old now and has graduated to be a DAR member like her mother and grandmother. She is sellin Mary Kay stuff now but will be goin 2 Baylor University purty soon. She told a histercal story about George Washington before he wus a famous general wen he got shot at a whole lot of times in the French & Indian wars but never got hit.

My man run out of lectricity for his kamra so he culdn't take my pitcher with Miss Colleen lyke he usually does. But up at the start of this ritin is a pitcher of Miss Catherine holdin me. She told me that she is in the 5th grade now and wen she first met me she wus maybe in the 2nd grade. She told a hysterical story about a lady who wanted 2 du sumpn important in the Resolutionary War so volunteered to take a secret message through the British lines to another General. She mesmorized the secret message jist in case she lost it or was caught by the British soljers. Well, she wus caught but they didn't find the secret message cus this lady ate it.

Here is Miss Sarah and Mr. Andrew askin Trivia Pursuit questions.

They were all hysterical questions about the Battle Of Monmouth and I didn't know any of the answers and maybe my man knew the answers to 1 o 2. Mr. Andrew is an Eagle Scout which is about as high as u kan go. My man sed he was a cub scout once. Miss Sarah is Mr. Andrew's sister.

This is Miss Katie Klammer, the Presudent of the David Pendeleton Society, welcoming all of us to the George Washington Tea. Later Miss Katie told us about her CAR project which wus making a scrapbook about the Marines cus her brother is in the Marines and fitin in Iraq. Her project wus kalled Prayer, Peace and Patriotism

One of the funnest things wus wen Miss Claire give a talk about the history of coloring books and crayons. She wus interested in colorin books cus her project is to make a history color book about the battle of Monmouth. She sed how the name Crayola comes frum two french words meanin oily chalk. And the first box of Crayola only had 8 colors in it. My man still has one of those color boxes.

Miss Katie Williams wus duin a project on the German Heritage so told about sum of the early Germans who cum to Texus.

The program started with evrybudy sayin the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag and then we all saluted the Texus Flag by sayin "Honor to the Texus Flag; I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one and indivisible. Then all the CAR members sed their C.A.R. Creed. Wen the program wus over all the CAR childrun stood in front and sung a cute good bye song called So Long, Farewell. That's wat they are doing in this pitcher. Then we all went and ate sandwiches and cookies and candy.

I shure like to go to the George Washington Tea thing every year.

Next month me and my man are goin 2 take a trip to someplayce called The Old South. I'll tell U all about doin that in my next ritin.
