HERE'S A RITIN FRUM

For MARCH, 2004

HI EVERYBUDY!

Hi, everybudy! This is Old Bear ritin 2 U agin. I haven’t dun anything xcitin since the last time I did a ritin but maybe U wuld lyke to here of sum of the things me and my man are probly goin 2 du this year.

I guess I have told you about goin on trips with maybe 30 or 40 peoples with sumpn called a Travel Ministry. We have been duin that 4 I guess 3 or 4 years and we’ve dun sum fun things like go to NYC twice and went on a cruise last year and did sum mystery trips that were fun like goin 2 San Antony 2 C the Alamo. Well, the Travel Ministry Committee peoples have sent us wat they are plannin 4 this year and there will be sum fun trips. One of them will be speshul fun cus we will get to go to Nu Orleans where we’ve never been before. Sumbudy sed we wuld fly to Nu Orleans on Southwest Airlins so that’s why I put the pitcher at the top of this ritin. We had jist got back frum sumwear, Chicago I think, and I asked the airplayne driver man if I culd see wear he did the drivin. He sed ‘shure’ and sew I luked where he did the drivin and then my man tuk our pitcher with me wearin his hat. Southwest Airline shure is fun and one time wen we were goin 2 Chicago I sed I liked their peanuts and the nice helper lady give me a big bag with 50 small bags of peanuts. Wen we got back frum that trip I rote a letter to Mr. Herb who was boss man at SWA telling him how much fun his airplaynes are and he rote me back sayin he wus glad I had a gud tyme and lyked the peanuts.

My man sez we will get 2 go on another cruise later on in the year and that’s gud cus we both had a gud tyme duin that. Another trip that will be fun is an overnight trip to some mystery place. Last year, like I sed, the Mystery Place was San Antonio and it was lots of fun even if my man and I had been there maybe 4 or 3 times before. Our first overnight trip this year will be in March to a town called Schulenberg to see sumpn called Painted Churches. Here’s wat the tinerary says about this place:

The Painted Churches of Schulenberg

Around the turn of the last century devout Catholics hailing from the Czech area of Central Europe built four churches in the countryside around Schulenberg, Fayette County, halfway between Houston and San Antonio. They utilized experienced European craftsmen to create gorgeous interiors replete with dazzling colors and intricate designs. These four country churches are visual feasts for the eye, as well as marvelous testimonials to the faith of the European immigrants that settled our State in the 1800’s. It is an uplifting adventure to discover these four gems located in rolling pastures off obscure country lanes. Their spires spotted across rustic farmland and their country graveyards full of ethnic Czech names will remind you of European settings. You won’t want to miss seeing first hand these dazzlingly colorful treasures of Texas’ heritage. Pictures can in no way duplicate their color and designs!

And we will get to go visit a Civil War Museum and a Sculpture Garden and an Aquarium and go see the Christmas lights again. My man is goin 2 three plays with these peoples but I don’t like plays unless they are in NYC so I won’t go to them.

We du most of our travelin with these Travel Ministry peoples but sumtymes we go by ourselves. My man sed that probly in March or April we can go ride on a train to visit my Aunt Mary and my gramma in Ilnoyze.

He says we R going to Phoenix in Arizona in August for sumpn called a convention. Way back in 1963 my man was boss of a club that made toy airplanes and boats and cars and stuff. One day he ‘let’s have a convention’ and there wus a convention. My man wus only boss for about 7 years but the club, and the conventions, have been goin for 40 years. I member goin to one in Phoenix 20 years ago. I shure hope we go agin. It’s fun 2 go playces and see things.
