HERE'S A RITIN FRUM

For February 2002

Hi, Everybudy!

This is Old Bear writin 2 U agin and that's a pitcher of me trying to play on a harp. Where I wus wen I played on the harp wus at a meetin of The Jane Douglas Chapter NSDAR. Member me tellin U how my man and me go to the DAR house durin the State Fair Of Texus and sell take-a-chance tickets 4 them. Well, this time we got invited 2 cum 2 the meetin. Wen my man told me there wuld be sumpn 2 eat there I wus ready 2 go. Here's wut the table with pies and cakes and cookies looked like.

This meetin wus a speshul meetin cus they did sumpn kalled inductin new members and then there wus a speshul progam wen a man told about an old timey battle during the American Resolution wen Mr. General Washington's army got beat up by the British soljers at sum playce called Brandywine and had to retreat. The song that is playin is kalled General Washington's March.

The meetin wus purty interestin but the mostest fun wus wen Miss Pat Martin had a kontest and asked 25 questions and we had 2 try and rite down the answers. The peples who got most of them right got sum prizes. My man didn't du very gud. One of the questions wus wat did the angels sing when they cum wear the shepherds were. My man wrote down that they sung HARK cus there is a song kalled Hark, the Herald Angels Sing. Miss Pat sed that wus wrong and everybudy laffed at him. But it wus lots of fun.

Here's pitchers of all the new members getting inducted into the Jane Douglas Chapter NSDAR and the man givin his history talk and Miss Pat duin the kontest stuff. Miss Dorothy who is the regent lady of this chapter is the lady on the right wearin all the medals.

It shure wus fun 2 go 2 this meetin and C all the nice ladies agin and they asked if me and my man were cumin back 2 wurk next Septembur. I sed shure.

Well, I sed I wus goin 2 New York City with my man and sum other peples and I shure enuf did. Me and my man had 2 get out of bed real, real early one mornin cus Mr. Jim who wus goin on the trip 2 kum 2 pick us up at 4 o'clock in the mornin 2 take us 2 the church wear we wuld get on the bus 2 go 2 the airport with 20 other peples. There wus hardly anyone at the airport wen we got there about 5am sew it didn't take very long 2 du the ticket and the security stuff and then we had 2 wait until about 7 for our airplane to leave. Here's a pitcher of sum of the sleepy peples waitin until time 2 go.

It wus a Continental airplane we flew on and here is me and the nice ladies who took care of us flyin all the way 2 Newark where we landed. The airplane dryver signed my travel book and rote in it that it wus 1265NM from DFW to EWR. (That's the way airplane dryvers spell Dallas and Newark).

Wen we got to EWR we got on a little bus that tuk us to NYC and our hotel. But cus we were early the hotel rooms wouldn't be readu sew we went 2 the South Street Seaport sew the peples culd eat sum lunch. I don't eat very often sew I took a nap in the bus but here's where my man ate his lunch with sum other tour peples.

There were sum big boats at the South Street Seaport and on the drive back to the hotel we drove under the Brooklyn Bridge. It sure is a big bridge.

I didn't get 2 du very much in NYC cus mostly everybudy went to plays and dinners at fancy restaurants so I mostly stayed in the hotel room and watched tv shows. The plays they went 2 were 42nd Street, and The Music Man and Aida cept my man didn't go 2 Aida cus his gud frend Miss Elizabeth got sick at the dinner table before the show and my man tuk her bak to the hotel. He sed he didn't much want 2 C the Aida play anyway.

I got 2 du sum fun things in Nu York City. One wus takin a bus trip all around and seein where the two big buildings fell down. My man wanted a pitcher of it but we culdn't get close enough. Another fun thing wus takin a boat trip out by the Statue of Liberty and seein sum of the NYC buildins from the boat. It wus a purty dreary day but my man tuk sum pitchers anyway.

One day there wusn't nuthin scheduled until dinner tyme sew me and my man and Mr. Jim and Miss Elizabeth went to visit two museums. It wus fun 2 ride in a taxi cab and go through Central Park to get there. One of the museums had a real funny name. Sumpn like The Gurglehiem cept it wusn't quite like that. We went there to C a zibit of pitchers by Mr. Norman Rockwell who is a real famous painter man. Then we went to the Museum of Modern Art speshully 2 C sumpn kalled The Angel Tree.

My man didn't have much fun at the museums cus he sumtymes has a problem and can't walk hardly at all. Sew we jist sat and luked at the Mr. Rockwell pitchers while Mr. Jim and Miss Elizabeth luked at sum other things in the museum. When he got rested up we tuk another taxi to the other museum.

Well, my man got real dizzy when he got there and had 2 sit down and culdn't walk hardly at all until he rested sum more. The museum man sed maybe he shuld go C the museum nurse and that's jist wat we did. She tuk his blood pressure and sed it wus real low and gave him a glass of water and sed he shuld rest until his pressure got better. She shure wus a nice nurse lady and let my man take her pitcher with me.

The last thing we did in NYC wus go to the Christmus Show at Radio City Music Hall. That's wear all those purty ladies with long legs dance. It wus shure a gud show with Santy Claws and ice skaters and lots of other things but I almost didn't get 2 go cus wen we were cumin in the door a security man got hold of me and felt me all over and felt a bump in my back and rite away made another security man put me through the x-ray machine 2 C if I had anything bad inside me. Course I didn't but my man got 2 C wat is inside me and it is sumpn that a long time ago made me make bear noises but don't work no more.

The Radio City Music Hall sure is pretty. Course my man culdn't take pitchers wen the show wus goin on but here's a cuple of pitchers of the lobby part.

We went back to the airport in EWR after the show 2 wait for the airplayne back to DFW. Here are 4 of the ladies playin bridge while they are waitin.

The airplayne driver must have tuk a shortcut back 2 DFW cus he rote in my buk that it wus only 1233NM on the way bak. The lady who tuk care of us on the way back wus reel nyce.

It wus fun goin 2 NYC and cept 4 sum peple getting sorta sick one night, like Miss Elizabeth did , everybudy had a reel gud time.

The next trip I'm going to be takin is to Abilene here in Texus but I'll tell you about that maybe next month.
